Maxine Rose Cushing

Maxine Cushing, 83, of Shepherd passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. Cremation has taken place and her ashes were interred in Kelly Cemetery alongside her late husband, Eldon. She was born December 16, 1933, in Rosebush, daughter of the late Frank James and Mary Loretta (Campbell) Small. She married Eldon Cushing on June 17, 1982, in Mt. Pleasant. She was employed at the State Home in Mt. Pleasant for 30 years and also worked as a in-home caregiver. She didnt retire until she was 70. Maxine is survived by four sons, Gary (Kelli) Carroll of Rigold, GA, Denis (Susan) Carroll of Mt. Pleasant, Brian (Deb) Carroll of Shepherd, and Allen (Silvia) Carroll of Germany; three step-children, Terry (Jane) Cushing, Steven Cushing, and Linda Richardson; brother, Wayne (Bonnie) Small of Missouri; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, Frank and Mary Small; husband, Eldon Cushing; son, Thomas Carroll; and seven siblings, Elton Al Small, John Robert Small, Harold Small, Arden Small, Don Small, Mary Potter, and Ken Small.
