Melissa Sue Blizzard-Hodges

Melissa Sue Blizzard-Hodges, age 37, of Mt. Pleasant passed away peacefully at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI on October 11 ^th , 2018 surrounded by her family.

She grew up in Mt. Pleasant and was a feisty, sassy, and fun-loving kid, full of spunk and joy. She graduated from Beal City High School in 1999 and could often be found with her face in a book. She passed her love of reading down to her eight-year-old son, Austin. Melissa loved spending time with family and caring for others in their time of need. She was a loving and involved mother and her life revolved around her son. She also enjoyed working on arts and crafts and loved the holidays, especially Halloween.

She is survived by her son, Austin Hodges; parents, Jean (Bo) Abbott of Weidman and Andy (Shelly) Blizzard of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, David (Jacqui) Blizzard of Kalamazoo, Nathan Blizzard, and Adam Blizzard of Mt. Pleasant; grandparents, Billy (Toby) Martinez and Robert Denslow Sr. of Weidman; son's father, Dave Hodges of Midland; aunt Tammy (Kevin) Recker of Weidman and cousin, Jessica Denslow-Sackett of Blanchard; uncle Robert (Valerie) Denslow of Mt. Pleasant; uncle Dale (Lynn) Denslow of Florida and cousins, Christopher and Patrick Denslow; aunt Donna (Dennis) Bailey of Weidman and cousins, Cassandra Thelen and Tony Bailey; and Allan Martinez of Weidman and cousin, Cody Martinez . She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Austin Hodges and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held in her remembrance at Maier Family Funeral Home on October 19 ^th , 2018 at 11:30 in the morning. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service. Maier Family Funeral Home is located at 5483 W. Weidman Rd.
