Mildred "Dani" Ann Mcdonald

Mildred Ann McDonald, affectionately known as "Dani", passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Comfort Care Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant. She was the last surviving child of Leo Thomas and Edna Alice (Fosgett) Barz. Dani was born February 16, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and was welcomed into the home by her elder siblings, William, Rita, Mary, and Dick. She soon welcomed her younger siblings, Rose and Wayne. Dani was a 1950 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. Her marriage to Maurice Bush was blessed with five children: Maurine, Mary Ellen, Patrick, Cathy, and John. Dani's love for children extended beyond her own family as she worked as a daycare provider. She later worked at Vic's Grocery Store for 10 years and spent 32 years at Central Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University in food service and as a custodian, retiring in 1991. Dani found love again and married Leon G. McDonald on September 25, 1992, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She cherished her family and enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners. Dani is survived by her children, Maurine (Bob) Weisenburger of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Ellen Bush of Springfield, MO, Patrick (Denise) Bush of Keego Harbor, Cathy (Bob) Thiel of Marietta, GA, and John Bush of Manila Hills, Philippines; two step-children, Gregory McDonald and Annette (David) Stanesa; 30 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Beverly Barz of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Edna Barz; husband, Leon McDonald; and siblings, William Barz, Rita Moline, Mary Baumann, Dick Barz, Rose Brickner-Sprague, and Wayne Barz. A Funeral Mass for Dani will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Andy Booms will preside. Rite of Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery followed by a luncheon in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Dani's family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. with a Rosary and time for sharing beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday one hour before Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Parish. Envelopes will be available at the church and funeral home. Dani will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
