Mildred "Millie" E. Merrifield

Mildred E. Merrifield, 81, of Mt. Pleasant died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 29, 2002 at Tendercare of Mt. Pleasant. Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Lux Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Bartlett of Prospect Park Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd. Visitation is Thursday from 3-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect Park Church of God or the Arthritis Association. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Millie was born November 1, 1920, in Waltz, KY, the daughter of Morton and Ursula (Humphries) Collard. She married John Merrifield April 10, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1941 and was a bookkeeper for Central Concrete for over 30 years. She was a past member of the Mt. Pleasant Zonta Club. She also bowled for many years in both a womens and couples league. Millie is survived by three daughters, Karen (Howard) Sageman and Nadine (Jack) Voisin, both of Mt. Pleasant and Janice (Tom) DeYoung of Grandville; one son, Pete (Kathy) Merrifield of Mt. Pleasant; 12 grandchildren, Lori (Nelson) Sweet, John (Courtenay) Sageman, Melissa (Dallas) Phillips, Jennifer (Jay) Toney, Jackie (Rick) Beltinck, Joe (Jaime) Voisin, Lynn (Jay) Budd, Julie (Cory) Whitaker, Katie DeYoung, John (Kelly) Merrifield, David (Jamie) Merrifield, and Amanda (AJ) Medalen; 14 great grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley and Travis Sweet, Taylor, Maggie and Lauren Sageman, Jacob and Jeffrey Toney, Janae Beltinck, Aviana, Savonja, Joey and Jordan Voisin, and Abigail and Samuel Merrifield; and her special sister-in-law, Jean Merrifield. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; her infant son, Dennis; her parents; and two great grandchildren.
