Mililani Anderson, 86, of Cadillac, formally of Weidman, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2021, in Cadillac. Mililani was born July 15, 1935, in Waialua, Hawaii, daughter of the late Kisuke and Sophie (Guerreiro) Okamoto. Mililani was employed by the State of Michigan as a nurse for over 32 years, retiring in 1997. Mililani enjoyed playing cards, crafts, and painting with oils. She was a novice golfer and an accomplished bowler. While living in Weidman, she belonged to the Women's Birthday Club. She was affiliated with St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Beal City where she volunteered on the funeral luncheon committee and counted money for Sunday collections. Mililani always said her best achievements were raising her two children, Lani and Bobby, and learning to live independently. Mililani is survived by her two children, Iwalani (Randolph) Baker of Cadillac and Robert (Cheri) Anderson of Burnsville, MN; grandchildren, Trevor Baker, Ian Baker, Lauren Anderson and Spencer Anderson; great grandchildren, Xander Cantu, Xyla Baker, Lumen Baker and Maren Baker; and sister in-law's, Jean (Okamoto) Hew, and Rose (Okamoto) Hamilton. She was preceded in death by both her parents; siblings, Donald Okamoto, Robert Okamoto, Earl Okamoto, Winona Aricayos and Leonard Okamoto. Mililani's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, October 11, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Deacon Jim Damitio officiating. A luncheon will follow in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
