Molly Pittsley, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Green Acres in Mt. Pleasant. She was born April 24, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Edmund Gerald and Jean Agnes (Laird) Malone. After graduating from Detroit Cooley High School in 1947, Molly received her nursing degree from St. Mary's Hospital, Detroit, in 1950. After becoming a certified nurse anesthetist from Hurley Hospital, Flint, in 1953, she married Hazen Pittsley on June 15, 1957, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Flint. They moved to Mt. Pleasant in the mid-1960's where Molly worked as an anesthetist for the state home and Central Michigan Community Hospital. She retired from CMCH in 2001. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Catholic Daughters, and Zonta. Molly was so well known and so loved in our community and treated many individuals with compassion throughout her career in health care. She wasn't one to gossip and saw the best in everyone. Selfless in nature, Molly cared about others more than herself. She was a true gem. Molly leaves behind four sons, Michael Anthony (Vicky) Pittsley of Elwell, Patrick (Bridget) Pittsley of Mt. Pleasant, Mark (Lori) Pittsley of Mt. Pleasant, and Michael Howard (Karen) Pittsley of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren, Chase Pittsley, Kayla Pittsley, Courtney (Eric) Meyers, Glenn Pittsley, Laura Pittsley, Patrick Pittsley Jr., Alison Pittsley, Molly (Jeff) Karnes, Hannah (Simon) Cunningham, Dan Pittsley, Matthew Pittsley, Michaela Pittsley, Lea (Wutong) Wu, Arlena (Chris) Henry, and Matthew Metzger; 10 great grandchildren, Terence, Elijah, Julian, Joshua, Emerson, Kensington, Gavin, Micah, Jackson, and Trinity; and siblings, Julia Aretha of Roseville, and Michael (Judy) Malone of Holliday, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Jean Malone; husband, Hazen Pittsley; siblings, Frank Malone, Fred Malone, Veronica Bigos, Mary Porman; daughter in-law, Jean Pittsley; and grandson, Daniel Levi Pittsley. A Funeral Mass for Molly will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, February 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. Rite of Committal will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7:30 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour prior to Mass. Following the cemetery service, all are invited to a luncheon in Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the church and funeral home.
