Myrtle MacDonald, 86, of Wyoming, MI and formerly of Mt. Pleasant; passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at Medilodge of Wyoming. A Funeral Mass for Myrtle will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic church with Father Don Henkes as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the Mass begins. Memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging or the Soup Kitchen. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Myrtle was born March 23, 1930, in Rudyard, MI, daughter of the late John and Leah (Frizzell) Heckert. She married Robert MacDonald on Sept. 16, 1948, in Kalamazoo. While raising six children, she worked as an assembler at Ferro Manufacturing in Mt. Pleasant as well as a nurses aide at the Regional Center for Developmental Disabilities. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, solving puzzles, and playing cards. She was very involved in her faith and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. She loved her family and she was a doting grandmother. Myrtle is survived by five children, Sharon (Richard) Tolan of Grand Rapids, Robert B. MacDonald, Nanette MacDonald, Gregory MacDonald and Debra MacDonald, all of Mt. Pleasant; 12 grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelli, Jason, Lance, Katie, Shane, Candy, Misty, Nikki, David, Brandy and Josh; several great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Duane) Smothers of Tomball, TX; sister-in-law, Jean Heckert of Farwell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert N. MacDonald; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Tonya MacDonald; daughter-in-law, Lydia MacDonald; grandson, Chad Thrush; and siblings, Gerald Kriesche, Jack Kriesche, Frank Kriesche, Karoline Merchant, and Mike Heckert.
