Nancy Durkee

Nancy Willis Durkee, age 78, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at her home. Nancy was born on September 6, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of James W. and Nancy L. (Willis) Bridges. On September 15, 1956 she married Robert R. Durkee. Nancy was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends from Dover Court and her animals. Survivors include her children: Nancy Lee (Mankowski) (George) King of Mt. Pleasant, Jeffrey Willis Durkee of Austin, TX, Mark Thomas (Cindy) Durkee of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jean Page Callen of Charleston, SC and former son-in-law Paul Mankowski of Mt. Pleasant. Eleven grandchildren: Jennifer (Brad) Heiss, Joshua Robert (Allison) Mankowski,Sean Paul Mankowksi, Ashley and Mike Venezia, Jessica Durkee, Jake Durkee, Kate Durkee, Jack Durkee, Marc Mankowski, Sage Callen and Cade Callen. Seven great grandchildren: Dominik Mankowski, Colton Venezia, Gunner Venezia, Madison Heiss, Grace Heiss, Julia Heiss and Hunter Heiss and a sister Sue and Gary Froliech of Knoxville, TN. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Robert and both parents. A time of gathering and remembrance for Nancy will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 3 to 6:45 p.m. at the Rowley Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. At 6:45 p.m. the funeral service will begin. Following the service, cremation will take place with interment of the cremated remains in Massachusetts at a later date. In honoring Nancys love of animals, memorial contributions have been suggested to HATS, Humane Animal Treatment Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
