Nancy Spragg, 81, of Lake Isabella, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. Nancy was born October 29, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Lawrence and Roelina (Walthouse) Reif. She married Warren C. Spragg, Jr. on January 28, 1961, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. They moved to Lake Isabella in 1975. Nancy earned her bachelor and master's degrees from Central Michigan University. She taught high school English for 30 years, retiring from Alma Public Schools after 15 years. She had previously taught at Montabella and Midland High Schools. Traveling was very enjoyable to Nancy, especially to Florida. She liked boating and fishing and was a huge supporter of her husband as a "coach's" wife. In her spare time Nancy would volunteer at hospice, which she did for 12 years. More than anything, Nancy loved her family, especially her grandchildren whom she would watch whenever she was able. Nancy joins her parents, Lawrence and Roelina Reif and her husband, Warren, who all preceded her in death. She leaves behind her two sons, Warren "Clay" Spragg III of Alpena and Andy (Randi) Spragg of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, Warren IV and John Spragg and Chelsi (Brett) Mayer and Drew, Rees, and Orion Spragg; great grandchildren, Connor, Austin, and Finn; siblings, Janet Poser of Mill Valley, CA and Fred John (Christine) Reif of Grosse Pointe; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 29, from 10-11 a.m. Nancy's funeral will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rick Tuttle of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Nancy will be laid to rest in Spratt Township Cemetery, near Alpena. A Celebration of life will be announced in the spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodland Hospice House of Mt. Pleasant. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
