Norman Joseph Zuker, 80, of Mt. Pleasant died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005 at Tendercare of Mt Pleasant, surrounded by his family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne presiding. Cremation will take place after the service. Visitation will take place at Sacred Heart on Friday Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or HATS. Envelopes will be available at the church and at Lux Funeral Home. Norman was born August 12, 1925 in Beal City at home, the son of Frank and Tillie (Berg) Zuker. He married Donna Noble on Nov. 22, 1946 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. He served in the Marine Corp with the Military Police. He was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. He was employed as a dispatcher for Central Concrete, operated heavy equipment for many local contractors; retiring from Gary House Excavating. He was very active and well known in the community. He served as a City Commissioner, Mayor of Mt. Pleasant and Constable of Deerfield Township. He was also a member of the Jaycees, the Moose Lodge #195, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and was an avid gardner. Norman is survived by his five children of Mt. Pleasant; Marilyn (Bob) Zeneberg, Phillip Joe (Cindy) Zuker, Dave Zuker, Jerry (Cathy) Zuker, and Patrick (Patty) Zuker; two step-children of Mt. Pleasant, Diane (Bob) Lackie, and Mike (Lynn) Jones, and their mother Vernonica Zuker; thirteen grandchildren, Kelly (Denny) Berryhill, Craig (Marsha) Zeneberg, Misty (Abe) Pasch, Scott (Angie) Zeneberg, Jeffery (Veronica) Zuker, Don (Tina) Zuker, Robert Berly Zuker, Angela (Brian Shaner, Ben (Carolyn)Simon, Ryan Zuker, Kent Zuker, Karlee Zuker, and Layne Zuker; five step-grandchildren, Lindsey (Luke) Bushong, Melissa Lackie, Emily Lackie, Mike (Kim) Jones, Jessica Jones; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard (Reba) Zuker of Cleveland, TN, and Paul (Diane) Zuker of Beal City; two sisters, Rita Smokler of Long Beach, CA, and Helen (Patrick) Pappas of Rosebush; one sister-in-law, Naomi Zuker of Knoxville, TN.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Donna (Noble) Zuker; brother, Ray Zuker; brother-in-law; Leo Smokler; and his Grandson, Brian Zuker.
