Octaviano (Toby) Martinez

Octaviano (Toby) Martinez, age 80 of Weidman passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at MidMichigan Medical Center - Midland.

Toby was born on March 22, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas; he was the son of the late Anastacio and Catalina (Ibarra) Martinez. He grew up in the Mt. Pleasant area and attended Mt Pleasant schools and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Toby married Billie Jo Sprague on April 4, 1975 in Sherman Township, they were married 44 years. He retired from General Motors of Lansing in 1992 after working 20 years. Toby enjoyed fishing, cooking and riding in his side-by-side. Frying fish and doing barbecues was a passion close to his heart and he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Weidman Eagles Aerie #4540.

Toby leaves to cherish his memory his wife Billie Jo; children, Jean (Thomas) Abbott, Dale (Becky) Martinez, Tammy (Kevin) Recker, Richard (Cindy) Martinez, Robert (Val) Denslow, Terry Martinez, Dale (Lynn) Denslow, Donna (Dennis) Bailey, Michael Martinez and Allan Martinez; siblings, Tony Martinez, Mary Ann (Doug) Reava and Rita Hard; and 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Toby was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Joe Martinez, Gloria De-Lacruz and Jesse Martinez .

Services for Toby will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Maier Family Funeral Home, 5483 W. Weidman Road, Weidman with Pastor Randal Brandon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Memorial donations in Toby's honor may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
