Onalee Swindlehurst, 93, of Rosebush, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Rosebush Manor. Her funeral will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Rosebush Presbyterian Church with Pastor Chuck Moerdyk officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery later in the day. Memorial contributions may be made to Rosebush Manor or Rosebush Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Onalee was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Clare, daughter of the late Wilmot and Florence (Funnell) Graham. She graduated from Clare High School in 1939 and married Don Swindlehurst on Aug. 9, 1941, in Rosebush. She worked as an office manager alongside her husband at his insurance business. She was a member of Rosebush Presbyterian Church and was active in a number of different organizations including the Isabella-Denver 4-H Club, the Womens Extension Club, and Rosebush Quilt Club. Some of her favorite pastimes included being a 4-H leader, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and tending to her flower gardening. In 1984 she and Don began spending their winters in Zephyrhills. Even after Dons death in 2005, she continued to spend her winters in Florida until 2014. In 2010 Onalee moved from her home to Rosebush Manor. Don and Onalee donated the property for Rosebush Manor and were instrumental in its establishment. She was a wonderful wife of a successful man and loving mother to three successful children. She dearly loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Onalee is survived by three children, Margie (Jim Achterberg) Geasler of Zephyrhills, FL, Lynn (Susie) Swindlehurst of Mt. Pleasant, and Marianne (Agris) Krautmanis of Kalamazoo; seven grandchildren, Jeff Geasler, Shelly Geasler, Melissa Loper, Krista Swindlehurst, Nikki Tillotson, Lia Krautmanis, and Erik Krautmanis; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Stephanie, Brianna, Zach, Kaylyn, Bailey, Jamie, Patrick, Maddie, and Avery; and four great-great-grandchildren, Lucy, Peyton, Porter, and Remi. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don in 2005; and her sister, Lola Franklin.
