Owen Henry Mishler
MCBAIN — Owen "Onie" Henry Mishler, age 66, of McBain, passed away at his home Sunday, March 3, 2013, after a year of illness.
He was born on March 22, 1946, in Cadillac to Elmer and Mary (Helsel) Mishler. He married Linda Markham on March 16, 1978, in Hudsonville.
Onie had attended the McBain High School. He had worked a few different places in his younger years. Mostly, he was self employed and cut up and hauled scrap iron in large quantities and had his own logging and wood chipping business. There wasn't anything he was afraid to move, haul, or cut up. Onie loved his old cars and restoring them. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed life and had done everything he ever wanted to do. He enjoyed having the odds against him, including going to the casino. He was a unique individual and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Mishler, of McBain, along with two sons, Todd Mishler and Jason Mishler, both of McBain, and a daughter Deedee Mishler and her significant other, Jim Ankney, of Marion. Grandchildren Tyler, Trey, Tiffany, and Hunter Mishler, all of McBain and Macy and Olivia, both of Marion. Siblings Elmer Mishler of Manton, Hazel Hamilton of McBain, Edith (Jim) Bell of Tustin, Mary Jane Langworthy, of Cadillac, Betty (Stan) Vanderhoef, of Dighton, Pete (June) Mishler of McBain, and Roger (Gloria) Mishler of Manton, along with many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary Mishler, a daughter, Lori, siblings Wanda Park and Henry Mishler.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cadillac Seventh Day Adventist Church, with the Rev. Pat Milligan officiating. Burial will be in the Lucas Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Linda Mishler. Arrangements were made by Keith D. Burkholder, director in conjunction with the Maier Family Funeral Home, at Weidman. Guestbook is available at
