Patricia Ann King (Brown)

Patricia King, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at home with her family by her side.  Pat was born January 26, 1941, in Lansing, Michigan, daughter of the late Allie and Gladys (Collier) Brown. After graduating from Lansing Eastern High School in 1959 she married the love of her life, Larry King, on August 15, 1959, in Lansing. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Lorrie, Joel, James, Timothy, and Kevin. In addition to raising a family, Pat supported Larry in his career as a State Police Trooper while living in Ypsilanti, Ithaca before moving to their final location, Mt. Pleasant, in 1966. For more than ten years she was employed by Dr. Dean as his office manager. Continuing in the medical field, she worked for numerous doctors as substitute office help. As an "empty nester" she opened a daycare in her home in the early 1990's.  Over the years she cared for over 100 children and their families.  Pat enjoyed traveling with Larry and the children. One of their favorite and most memorable destinations was to Cades Cove within the Smokey Mountains.  She also looked forward to her trips to Gulf Shores in the winter months.  Pat loved to can vegetables and fruits. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. Pat was very thrifty; she could see a project and get all the craft supplies to complete the project.  She spent time going to flea markets and yard sales looking for the best deal. Recently she finished painting multiple bird houses. Most of all Pat loved her family.  Her children and grandchildren were her world.  She will be missed dearly. Pat is survived by her husband of 64 years, Larry King; children, Lorrie Dunlap of Mt. Pleasant, Joel King of Mt. Pleasant, James (Dawn) King of Weidman, Timothy (Catherine) King of Foley, Al., and Kevin (Cindy) King of Gulf Shores, Al.; grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa) King, Allie Dunlap, Lisa Pringle, Jeremy King, Spencer (Martha) King, Mercedes (Christopher) Nethers, Larissa (Adam Fox) King, Jesse (Olivia Sindle) King, Samuel (Caitlin) King, Parker King, Peyton King and Pearson King; and 20 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both parents; six siblings; granddaughter, Amanda McGough; son in law, Gary Dunlap; and adopted son, David Mayes.  A service honoring Pat's life will be held at Charles R, Lux Family Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Monday, October 23, 2023, at 11 am, with Deacon Jim Damitio officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.  All are invited for a meal immediately following in the Lincoln Reception Center (attached to funeral home). Pat will be laid to rest in a private service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt Pleasant.   Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
