Patricia Meabrod, 84, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Detroit, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at the Laurels in Mt. Pleasant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Will Prospero presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd., on Monday from 3-8 p.m. with the vigil beginning at 5:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Patricia was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Detroit, the daughter of the late John and Tena (Vernier) Kelso. She graduated from St. Paul High School, Grosse Pointe, in 1943. She married Henry Meabrod on Jan. 17, 1948 at St. Matthew Church in Detroit. She was a member of St. Philomena Parish in Detroit where she belonged to the altar society. In 1997, she and her husband retired to Mt. Pleasant and joined Sacred Heart Parish. Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting, traveling, golfing, bowling, and playing cards. But the most important thing in her life was her family. Surviving family members include her husband of 62 years, Henry Hank ; four children, Henry D. (Mary Lou) Meabrod of New Baltimore, Christine (Tom) Flannery of Mt. Pleasant, Nancy (Al) Ghesquiere of Lake Isabella, and Paul (Gail) Meabrod of Chesterfield Township; 10 grandchildren, David, Kelly, Bill, Maureen, Katie, Brian, Dan, Lisa, Wendy, and Melanie; 22 great-grandchildren; her sister, Kathleen Montreuil of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Meabrod; brother, Jack Kelso, sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Frank Shefferly; and brother-in-law, Thomas Montreuil.
