Patricia Murphy, 84, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Woodland Hospice House.
A Funeral Mass for Pat will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant and Deacon Larry Fussman assisting. A luncheon will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Parish Hall. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitaiton continues at the church on Thursday one hour prior to Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice, Commission on Aging, or Chippewa River District Library. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Pat was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, daughter of the late James Edward and Mary Opal (Norris) Lowther. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1950 and married William F. Murf Murphy on Oct. 10, 1953, at Sacred Heart Church.
She was employed as a secretary for both Sacred Heart Academy and Murphy Bulldozing and Trucking. She had also worked at the Broadway Theater during high school and at CMU in the 1980s. Some of her favorite pastimes were crossword puzzles and reading murder mysteries. She was known to be rather good at spelling and grammar and was a wonderful cook. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Catholic Daughters, Elks Club in Alma and Moose Lodge in Clare.
Pat is survived by three children, Timothy (Barbara) Murphy, Sandra (Raymond) Harnick and Christopher (Vicki) Murphy, all of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Dannielle and Nicholle Murphy, Samantha (Nathan) Barnes, Corey and Casey Haynes, Jenna and Jayde Harnick and Jennifer Stevens; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Murphy and Landon Barnes; daughter-in-law Kathy (Ed) Hall of Mt. Pleasant; brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Richmond of Owosso; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William in 2010; son, David James Murphy in 2002; and sister, Peggy Richmond.
