Patricia M. Schall, 51, of Mt. Pleasant, with her beloved family at her side, concluded her courageous battle with cancer on February 7, 2003. Pattys strength, determination and devotion to others was evident in all facets of her life. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 15, at the First Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Ivan Odor officiating. Those who wish to pay their respects to the family may do so on Friday, February 14, from 5-7 p.m. at Lux Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Patty was born September 11, 1951, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Harold Darwin and Gladys Marie (Couls) Johnston. A long-time employee at Central Michigan University, Patty also completed extensive study with a concentration in Social Work. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Patty volunteered her time and talents as a Chaplain and Auxiliary member at Central Michigan Community Hospital. Her love of children and the fine arts prompted Patty to classroom service as an Art Reach of Mid-Michigan Docent. She was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Aglow. Patty is survived by her two loving daughters, Stephanie (Curt) Schall-Brazee of Traverse City, Tiffany Schall of Mt. Pleasant and their father, James Schall of Mt. Pleasant; her mother, Gladys (Walter) Tesnar of Manteno, IL; six siblings, Cheryl (Edward) Bailey of Leonard, William (Connie) Johnston of Newark, OH, Thomas (Lisa) Johnston of St. Clair Shores, Jeffrey Johnston of Glens Falls, NY, Bonnie (Bob) Austell of Manteno, IL, and Maryann (David) Miilu of Mt. Clemens. She is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews and dear friends, Fred and Marie Schall and family. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Johnston in 1962; and brother, Robert.
