Patricia Schumacher, 75, of Beal City passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father Thomas J. McNamara presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lux Funeral Home on Monday from 3-8 p.m. with the vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph The Worker School. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Pat was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Isabella County, the daughter of Frank and Vera (Gachter) Bierschbach. She graduated from Beal City High School in 1951 and married Keith Schumacher July 31, 1954 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. She had worked for 25 years at the 4-H office in Isabella County. In 1995 she retired from Central Michigan University after 19 years as an administrative secretary in the counseling center and school of accounting. She was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel and the IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals. Some of her favorite pastimes were bowling, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her coffee group. But dearest to her were her grandchildren. Pat is survived by two sons, Dennis Schumacher of Beal City and Dean (Sue Hastings) Schumacher of Beal City; four grandchildren, Darrik Schumacher and Breanna, Kyle and Trevor Hastings; two sisters, Virginia (Elwood) Walton of Mt. Pleasant and Ruth Wentworth of Mt. Pleasant; in-laws, Marvin (Florence) Schumacher of Rosebush, Don (Gerry) Schumacher of Beal City, Harley (Kathryn) Schumacher of South Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Keith in 2005; and parents, Vera in 1986 and Frank in 1987.
