Paul A. Koenig, 88, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Romeo died Friday, December 6, 2002 at his residence with his son and daughter-in-law by his side. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery next to his late wife, Mary Frances Koenig. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Monday beginning at 4 p.m. and ending with the conclusion of the vigil service at 8 p.m.. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or to the Sacred Heart Academy Foundation. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Paul was born October 17, 1914, in Detroit, the son of David Agustus and Laura (Beech) Koenig. He married Mary Frances OConnor on Aug. 14, 1943, at Christ The King Parish in Detroit. He was an elementary teacher at Utica Public School for many years. He also worked for Hudsons in the 1950's as a master piano technician. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, hydro-plane racing and golfing. He was a talented pianist with a wonderful ear for music. Paul is the beloved father of two sons, Dr. Larry (Pamela) Koenig of San Diego, Cal. and their children, Sarah, Jennifer, Aaron and Amanda (Glenn) Sinclair, and Paul (Marge) Koenig of Stevenson Lake and their children, Katie, Julie (Sean) Keenan, Andrea (Ryan) Dunn, and Stephanie; and two great grandchildren, Megan Keenan and Glenn Sinclair, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Mary Frances; and a son, Second Lt. David Bruce Koenig in 1967.
