Paul Zuker, 79, of Beal City, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at home surrounded by his family. A Funeral Mass for Paul will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Beal City. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Friday from 4-8 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Saturday one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Association, American Cancer Society, or St. Joseph the Worker Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Paul was born July 11, 1936, in Beal City, son of the late Frank J. and Matilda Tillie (Berg) Zuker. After graduating from Beal City High School in 1954, he served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, He was stationed in Camp Lee in Virginia and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 3. On Feb. 23, 1957, he married Diane White at Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Pleasant. Paul was employed as a dispatcher and manager at Central Concrete for 42 years, retiring in 1998. But his true passion was farming. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish where he served as usher for 52 years and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3651 since 1954. Some of his favorite pastimes were gardening, woodworking,, hunting, traveling, and visiting his children and grandchildren. Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Diane; seven children, Kenneth Zuker of Tampa, FL, Rick (Susan) Zuker of Clearwater, FL, Patricia (Craig Jackson) Cushman, Sharon Vogel, Janet Van Avery, Debra (William) Balser, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Barbara (Jeremy Spurr) Boulay of Brownstown Twp.; 18 grandchildren, Laura, Alex, Matthew (Mary Beth), Daniel, Cory, Eric, Ryan, Scott, Stephen, Kristina (Josh), Todd (Samantha), Jared, Jordan, Amanda, Jodi, Brooklyn, Mia, and Morgan; six great-grandchildren, Kordell, Emma, Seth, Aubrey, Emma, and Sloan; sister, Helen Pappas of Rosebush; sister-in-law, Veronica Zuker of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey in 1991; son-in-law, Joseph Boulay; and siblings, Raymond, Norman and Howard Zuker and Rita Smokler.
