Phyllis D. Toon

Phyllis Toon, 97, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Evansville, IN, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Prestige Centre in Mt. Pleasant. Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, at Lux Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Father Loren Kalinowki officiating. Burial will be in Flake Cemetery in Barryton. The family will receive friends at Lux Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Phyllis was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Mecosta County, daughter of the late Ren Hayward and Fern (Esterline) Hayward-Moreland. She married Maurice Toon in Evansville, IN. She worked in retail and owned and operated a salon where she worked as a beautician. She enjoyed crocheting and gave many of her items to charity. Phyllis is survived by a sister, Carol Swetz of Mt. Pleasant; step-daughter, Linda (Joe) Dunn of Butler PA; granddaughters, Sheila (Frank) Angeloni and Rebecca (Edward) Brown; four great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi Jennings and Clarabelle Hayward; and two brothers, Victor Hayward and Ren Hayward Jr.
