Quintin Grant Smith

Quintin Smith, 21, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 1, 2021.  Quintin was born on October 14, 1999, in Mt. Pleasant, son of Melisa Smith and Hal Smith.  Quintin, "Q", as he was lovingly known, held a very special place in his family.  He was very loyal to both his family and friends. He had the most loving heart and cared so deeply about  others and always wanted to protect them. He was a true caretaker at heart and had an excellent listening ear. His smile and silly faces would lighten up a room. Quintin was a very creative person and enjoyed using his hands to make things. He would make cord bracelets for people, picking colors he thought they would like. Quintin was  also very artistic with wood carvings and drawings. He took his time with all of his projects and was very thoughtful with the details, making sure they were just right. Quintin had a lot of dreams for his future; he wanted to learn as much as he could about cars and trucks, and he was very passionate about wanting to know how to work on his own vehicles. He especially loved his time spent with his uncle Anthony, a relationship he cherished. He really enjoyed the opportunity to try and learn lots of things. He would pick up his guitar and spend hours picking away at it, while trying to teach himself and gathering tidbits from others as well. Quintin was so smart and brave; he enjoyed analyzing things, knowing how they worked and was always willing to try new things. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.  Quintin is survived by his mother, Melisa Smith of Mt. Pleasant; father, Hal Smith of St. Louis; grandparents, Sonja Alger of Mt. Pleasant, Don (Barb Hustoles) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Charles and Beverly Smith of St. Louis; aunts and uncles, Jacki (Anthony) Starr of Mt Pleasant, Ryan (Jessica) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Diana (Michael) Carr of North Carolina, Jessica Hustoles of South Carolina, and Brad (Lacey) Wesley of Sheridan, Jenny Smith Everitt of St. Louis, Kurt (Marianne) Smith of Chassel; great grandparents, Ed and Mary Catherine Hustoles of Mt. Pleasant.  He is also survived by special cousins Mollie Smith, Lia Starr, Nikki, Shelby, Brady, Josalyn Wesley, and girlfriend Ashlynn.
