Ralph "Bud" Fisher, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020, at home with his family by his side. Bud was born November 14, 1928, in Midland, Michigan, son of the late Ralph Eugene and Zelda (Johnston) Fisher. A graduate of Midland High School, Bud received his bachelor's degree from Michigan State. After Bud's brothers, Bill and Jim, returned from military service, the three purchased and continued to grow Fisher Sand & Gravel, which their parents had established. In the five decades that followed, they would develop the Fisher Companies. The brothers founded Central Concrete Products in 1955 and Alma Concrete in 1960. The brothers maintained both locations but merged the companies as Central Concrete for maximum efficiency. The brothers would go on to add more related companies, one being Central Asphalt, in 1982, of which Bud served as president. Avid fans of outdoor recreation, Bud and his brothers opened Bucks Run Golf Club in 2000 having developed a premier golf course on the site of a former Fisher Sand and Gravel pit. The brothers have also founded and managed numerous joint partnerships including Alpine Mobile Homes, Fisher Property, Fisher Oil, the River Project, and Judy Land Development. Long before his stellar business career, Bud married Mary Ann Ellerthorpe on March 31, 1951, at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Midland. After her passing in 2010, he married Virginia Kile on January 18, 2013, in Las Vegas, NV. Generous, hardworking, humorous, and witty, Bud Fisher was a man who loved his family dearly, especially his two daughters whom he affectionately spoiled. Anyone who met Bud will remember his treasured smile, but to know Bud was an honor. He was the kind of man to give you the shirt off his back. He worked hard but still had time to enjoy woodworking, the outdoors, boating on Lake Charlevoix, flying, or simply spending time with his family. His presence in the community will be greatly missed. Bud is survived by his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Sue Ann (John) Giannotta of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Mary Jo Swindlehurst of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren, Aaron (Angie) White, Dana (Doug) Moore, Kyle (Carrie) White, Keeley Swindlehurst, and Jesse Swindlehurst; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann Fisher; granddaughter, Darcie Swindlehurst; two brothers, A.J. "Bill" Fisher and Jim Fisher; and three sisters, Ruth McCollester, Mary Ellen Stevens, and Jean Lanpher. Bud's public funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 17, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating and will be streamed live on the funeral home's Facebook page. To watch the live stream click ( Watch Live Stream ). The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to MidMichigan Hospice.
