Raymond Battleshaw

Raymond Battleshaw, 84, of Weidman, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at McLaren Central Michigan with his family by his side. 

He was born September 6, 1942, in Leslie, Michigan, one of 12 children born to the late George Henry and Hazel (Colosky) Battleshaw. His marriage to Janet Waters was blessed with two sons, Terry and Kevin. He later married Charlene Higgins on September 3, 1965, in Isabella County, Michigan. Together they raised four children, Julie, Christine, Shellie, and Steve.

In 1971, he established Ray's Auto Sales in Weidman, which he operated until his passing. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying. He found great joy in camping and boating, operating his backhoe, and collecting Model A cars. More than anything, Raymond loved his family and spending time with them.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlene; six children, Terry Kennedy and Kevin (Deann) Kennedy and Julie Thielen (Doug Demski), Tina (Randy) Yuncker, Shellie Battleshaw (Gary Shaver), and Steve Battleshaw (Nicole Roesch); grandchildren, Justine, Jordan, and Jade, Justin (Amy) Thielen and Christopher (Lauren) Thielen, Crystal (Jeff) Willis, Ashley (Jake) Thering, Corey Yuncker (Jessica Weatherwax), and Ryan (Cristy) Battleshaw, Morgan Wood, and Amber Wood (Patrick Kinsey); great grandchildren, Darren Schafer and Colton Willis, Leiah Battleshaw and Tyler Battleshaw, Adelyn Thering and Haidyn Thering, Hadley Thielen, Cameron Thielen, and Eden Thielen, and Kinsey Thielen; siblings, RoseMary Florian, Bob (Anita) Battleshaw, and Kathy Battleshaw; and numerous nieces and nephews, including his special nephew, Mike Florian.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Curtis Battleshaw, Betty Kyser, Carol Grove, Margrett Blodgett, Rolland Battleshaw, and George Battleshaw, and two infant siblings.

Raymond's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 24, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). He will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Weidman. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday one hour before the service.
