Raymond Leonard

Raymond Leonard, 67, of Alma, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at McLaren Central Michigan in Mt.Pleasant Michigan. He was born March 7, 1955, in Alma, Michigan, son of Marilyn A. Mills and Thomas L. Leonard. Ray was raised by his mother, Marilyn and her wonderful husband (Ray's lifelong father) Sal Sanchez. Ray graduated from St.Louis High School in 1973.  He had an amazing natural talent as a drawing artist. He moved to Florida where he resided for over 40 years. He was employed by United Parachute Technologies for 30 of those years and moved back to Michigan after retiring. Ray had a great love of music and a remarkable knowledge and affinity for The Beatles. Although he was strong in his personal opinions, Ray didn't judge others. He would often express his opinions without worry of back lash due to his laid-back personality. His quick wit and humor had his family full of laughter. His life view was to, "let be what would be". Ray is survived by his son Derek; daughter Angela; father, Sal Sanchez; siblings, Becky (Terry) Watson, Kim (Gary) Gager, Rosemary (Clyde) Swanson, and Sal Sanchez Jr.; and formal spouse, Alyssa Leonard.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Sanchez; maternal grandparents, William and Pauline Mills; and paternal grandparents, Lorenzo and Maria Sanchez; and former spouse, Deb Carnell. A memorial gathering will be held on a later date.
