Reynolds Harvey Campbell

Reynolds H. "Reyn" Campbell, 87, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, in his century-old home where he and his family have resided for over 50 years.  He was born in Northville, Michigan on July 26, 1937, son of the late Robert Harvey and Ethel LaVera (Reynolds) Campbell, and spent his adolescent years in Berkley and Royal Oak. Reynolds served two terms of active service in the United States Air Force from 1955-1958 and 1960-1962, served in the USAF Reserves from 1962-1963, and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant in 1963, after which he retained his private pilot license. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan (Sigma Phi Epsilon) and received his Juris Doctorate degree from the Detroit College of Law (now Michigan State University School of Law). He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1968 (P11560) and practiced law in Detroit and Mt. Pleasant until his retirement in 2010.  Reynolds married Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Alter in Detroit on December 16, 1966, and they moved with their young family to Mt. Pleasant in 1973. Together they raised five children: Douglas, Vera, Andrea, David, and Daniel. Reynolds served as president of the Isabella County Bar Association, was a member of the Board of Directors of Central Michigan Community Hospital, and enjoyed a 40-year membership with the Mt. Pleasant Country Club, where he achieved three holes-in-one. He coached all of his children in various sports and activities, and attended countless numbers of their baseball, softball, football, basketball, golf, volleyball, and ice hockey games. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, solving riddles and puzzles, tending to his six acres, and woodworking in his home workshop.  Reynolds and his love and humor will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Campbell; his son Douglas (Kimberly) Campbell and grandchildren Emma, Isabella, and Maxwell; his daughter Vera (Malcolm) Capriotti and grandchildren Caleb, Andrew, and Jacob; daughter Andrea (John) Tuttle and grandchildren Reyn and John "Jay" IV; David (Janelle) Campbell and grandchildren Jackson and Joshua; and Daniel (Allison) Campbell and grandchildren Madelynne, Elaine, and Gwendolynne.  He is predeceased by his parents, younger brother Robert J. Campbell, and infant grandson John A. Tuttle III.  Reynolds will be laid to rest in the Lincoln Township Cemetery on October 30 following a private family service at Charles R.
