Richard W. Elliget, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, MI and formerly of Mesa, Arizona died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Central Michigan Community Hospital following a brief illness. A memorial and prayer service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, MI with Joe Frankenfield presiding. A second service and burial will occur at a later date in Tempe, Arizona. Richard was born April 7, 1926 in Coldwater, MI, son of William and Nellie (Drake) Elliget. He attended Coldwater High School and was a WWII veteran having served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Louisville. He held various jobs during his lifetime and retired from the City of Mesa police department in 1993. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed spending time with his family. Richard is survived by his daughter, Dr. Pamela S. Gates (John Budde) of Mt. Pleasant, MI: his two sons, Richard G. (Kim) Elliget of Mesa, Arizona, and Timothy (Betty) Elliget of Newark, Ohio; his seven grandchildren, Dr. Timothy Gates of Berkley, MI; Gretchen (Jason) McIntyre of Mt. Pleasant; Erin (Gary) Senkowski of Freeland, MI; Stacy, Amy, Angela, and Courtney Elliget of Mesa, Arizona; six step-grandchildren, Ashley and Carson Budde of Mt. Pleasant; Bethany (Tom Cohen) Budde and Erin (Rich Wolchock) Budde of St. Louis, MO; LCDR, Christopher (Marlane) Budde of Norfolk, VA; Christie Elliget of Newark, Ohio; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Eunice (VanHoose) in 1972, his son William in 1976, and his step-grandson, Sean Budde in 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, and four sisters. Richard will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and as a kind and gentle man.
