Richard Allen Fish

Richard Fish, 77, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Foundation Park Alzheimer's Care Center, in Toledo, OH.  Richard was born on February 7, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Ivan and Joyce (French) Fish.  He attended Mt. Pleasant High School and graduated with the class of 1965.  Shortly after high school he joined the United States Army.  He served as an Army Ranger from 1967 – 1969. During his enlistment he received the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Bronze Star Medal. After returning from his enlistment, he devoted his time to his daughter, Kari.  Richard retired from Morbark Manufacturing in Winn, MI, after working over 20 years as a sales territory manager. He spent approximately 10 years working at the Pohlcat Golf Course in Mt. Pleasant, MI. as a course Ranger. Richard was also a dedicated member of the Borley-Hanel VFW Post 3033.  Serving the organization as a lifetime member.  He was a Post 3033 Commander, District 11 Commander (1997 – 1998), Aide to Camp for Jim Goldsmith; and the National Director for the Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen. Richard spent a lot of his time contributing to his community and will be missed by so many.  He is survived by his daughter Kari Gilpin of Potterville, MI; grandchildren, Branden Mazure and Brooke Mazure; sister, Jeri (Greg) Pelletier; many nieces, nephews, and many friends.  He is preceded in death by both parents; brother, Paul Fish; and sister, Janice Flannigan.  Richard's funeral will be held at 11a.m. Thursday, August 15, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Damitio officiating. A luncheon will follow at VFW Post 3033 in Mt. Pleasant.   Richard will be laid to rest in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mi. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 3033 or Into the Light Cancer Walk.
