Richard Freeze, 83, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Tendercare in Mt. Pleasant. His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 9, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Haymaker of Maranatha Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Maranatha Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Visitation continues on Monday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Richard was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Grover Cleveland and Julia (Harlowe) Freeze. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in 1950, Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. On June 2, 1956 he married Shirley S. Heigley at Chippewa Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. He was employed by Dow Chemical for 36 years as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1992. Some of Richards favorite pastimes were working on small engines, working with wood, solving crossword puzzles, and watching war movies and the History Chanel. Richard is survived by three children, Michael Freeze, Mark (Terri) Freeze, and Marlene (fiance, David Yarger Jr.) Freeze, all of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Alexis, Megan, Benjamin and Zoey; three sisters-in-law, Artis Freeze, Dorothy Freeze, and Lucille Freeze; and brother-in-law, Charles Cole. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley in 2009; daughter, Michelle Freeze in 2013; stillborn son, Jeffrey; eight brothers, James, Orin, Gale, John, Charles, Keith, Art and Grover Jr.; one sister, Bessie Cole; and two infant sisters.
