Richard C. McEvoy, 61, of Mt. Pleasant died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at his home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Robert Byrne officiating. Burial of his ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:30-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Lux Funeral Home. Richard was born Aug. 12, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Michael J. and Anna R. (Liebler) McEvoy. He served in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Sunoco from 1972-1981 where he distributed fuel oil. He also drove truck for U.S. Marble but most recently was employed by Hubscher Sand and Gravel as a weigh master. Richard is survived by two daughters, Danielle (Joseph) Laidlaw of Ypsilanti and Marcie (Mark) McCann of Belmont; four brothers, Michael McEvoy of Houston, TX, Edward (Jeanne) McEvoy of Oldsmar, Fla. Thomas (June) McEvoy of Mt. Pleasant, and Robert (Lucy) McEvoy of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Jeanne (Alan) Perkins of Lexington, Va.; and his special friends, Jon and Theresa Collin of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters Mary Ann McEvoy, Betty McEvoy, and Sarah Jane McEvoy.
