Richard Redden, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at home. Richard was born on July 1,1937, in Battle Creek, MI, son of the late Mack and Milred (Patton) Redden. In Richards early years he lived close to his grandmother Lillian Price, in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. He graduated from Glenville High School in Cleveland OH. He continued his education at the John Carroll University in Cleveland Heights, OH. and obtained his BA in Education and Communications. A friend (Chuck Warfield) convinced Richard into obtaining a master's in educational leadership at Western Michigan University and then urged him into earning a doctorate in education. Stating, "If you get this degree, you never have to attend school again!" Richard was employed by several Universities, including, Western Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, Vincennes, and Central Michigan. Recently he worked part time as an Office Assistant at the Isabella County Parks and Recreation in Mt Pleasant and for Veteran Affairs. He also was an on-call Juvenile Transporter for Isabella County. Richard made himself available to lend a hand to those in need. He will be missed by so many. Richard is survived by his sons, Brian Redden of Escondido, CA, and Richard Redden of Los Angelos, CA; granddaughter, TJ Thomas of Garf Heights, OH; 2 great grandchildren; cousins, Dr. Ronald Adams of Cleveland, OH and Anthony Adams, of New York, NY; and special friend, Curt Ritchey of Mt. Pleasant. He is preceded in death by both parents; Grandmother Lilliam Price; daughter, Pamela Thomas; aunts, Laraine (Fannie) Shuford and Marcella Adams; and uncles, Harry (Bud) Shuford and John Price. Per Richards wishes, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred in the Highland Park Cemetery in Ohio. A celebration of life will be held on a future date.
