Richard J. Dick Sova, 87, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Shepherd passed away Friday, October 27, 2017, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility with his family by his side. His funeral will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Fussman officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at the funeral home. Interment will be in Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Dick was born June 27, 1930, in Alma, Michigan, son of the late Levi and Isabell (ONeil) Sova. His first marriage was to Bonnie (Giles) Sova. Together they had seven children. He later married Marilyn (Wilson) Powers in Mt. Pleasant. Dick spent his entire life in auto sales. He began working at Turner-Labelle Used Cars while still in high school. The next 20 years he was employed by Garber Buick-Cadillac and Cadillac Corner, both in Saginaw. Returning to the area, he worked for Hartman Auto Sales in Mt. Pleasant and L & Q Chevrolet in Alma before establishing Dick Sova Auto Sales with his wife, Marilyn, in 1983. He retired in 2007. Dick loved cars and music of the Big Band Era. He will be remembered fondly for his quick wit and sense of humor. Dick is survived by his wife, Marilyn, the love of his life for 37 years; six children, Dave Sova of Grand Rapids, Jean Lalone of Rosebush, Jo (Kevin) Babinski of Midland, Susan Sova of Florida, Gail (Steve) Post of Mt. Pleasant, and Steve (Lynette) Sova of Coldwater Lake; daughter-in-law and step-daughter, Barb Sova of Lansing; step-children, Jan (Pat) Duffy of Shepherd, Pam (Dan) Dunbar of Florida, and Brad (Evale) Powers of Texas; 19 grandchildren, Hillary, Devon, Reagan, and Kara, Brittney, Chelsey, and Lindsay, Ryan and Wade, Tom, Brandy, and Jared, Jamey, Nicole, and Thomas, Janelle and Dane, and Trevor and Tanner; several great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, Brien, Sara, Kevin, Jessica, and Kara; several step-great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Vicki) Sova of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Isabell Sova; infant son, Tyler; son, Michael Sova; and sister, Joanne Barnhart-Dell.
