Richard Wuolukka, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. Richard was born on July 13, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Uno and Evelyn (Lovaas) Wuolukka. He served in the Navy from 1958 - 1965. Richard worked for the city of Troy as a Civil Engineer, then worked as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the City of Royal Oak. After retiring, Richard continued to keep active while working in North Port at the boat yard. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and evening crossword puzzles by the fire. Richard was passionate about his surroundings and surveying the land. He loved tinkering around his house, building and fixing things and spending time with his family. Richard is survived by his children, Justin Wuolukka of Port Charlotte , Florida, Shawn (Toni) Wuolukka of Traverse City, Andres Wuolukka of Traverse City, Adriana ( Michael ) Bruci of Sterling Heights, Kirsten ( Christopher) Morrow of Port Charlotte , Florida, Katrina ( Richard ) Launder of North Port , Florida, Amelinda ( Wesley Eairheart ) Wuolukka of Port Charlotte, Florida, Richard Wuolukka and Cheryl Hayes ; numerous grandchildren; special friend, Sharon Kobel of Mt. Pleasant; siblings, Adele Fournier, Ann (Steve) Thomas, and Dennis (Lynn) Wuolukka. Richard is preceded in death by both parents and sister, Joan Estes. Cremation has taken place as per Richard's wishes. There will be a memorial service for Richard celebrated on a later date.
