Rita Doerfer, 95, of Rosebush and formerly of Weidman passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Rosebush Manor. A Funeral Mass for Rita will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Tom Held as celebrant. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. Interment will conclude in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, Rosebush Manor, or the Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Rita was born February 8, 1922, in Beal City, daughter of the late Conrad and Margaret (Reihl) Wieber. She married Eldon Doerfer on February 14, 1953 at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, hook rugs, reading, canning, traveling, and flying. Rita is survived by three daughters, Arleen (Robert) Molesworth of Port Huron, Susan Doerfer of Weidman, and Brenda (Albert) Mickelson of Port St. Lucie, FL; granddaughters, Tina Molesworth and Angela (Tim) Courteau; great granddaughter, Dawn Bigger; great-great grandson, Leo Schaekel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Margaret Weiber; husband, Eldon; and six siblings, Regina, Walter, Leo, Henry Hank, Alexander, and John Wieber.
