Rita Epple, 82, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Leaton passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. Ritas funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Vredeveld officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to conclude at the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to HATS or Special Olympics. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Rita was born January 24, 1934, in Leaton, daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Minnie Leone (Prout) Epple. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1952 and was employed as an adult foster care provider for over 35 years. She dearly loved the dogs and cats she had while living at home and had a special place in her heart for stray and abandoned animals. She was an on-call worker for the womens shelter, volunteered for Special Olympics, and was a former member of St. Henry/St. Charles Parish. Rita is survived by two sons, Matthew (Luz Fernandez) Klosowski of Houston, TX and Martin (Kay) Klosowski of Grandville; four grandchildren, Matthew Klosowski Jr. and Joanna Tolentino and Christopher and Matthew Klosowski; two great-grandchildren, Quinten and Wesley Klosowski; brother, William T. Epple of Mt. Pleasant; sister-in-law, Jeanne Epple of Leaton; numerous nieces and nephews; and many foster care children who considered her mom . She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Minnie Epple; her son, Michael T. Klosowski; and two brothers, Mark E. Epple and Joseph C. Epple.
