Robert William Barnes

Robert William Barnes, age 88, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, at Green Acres of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.  Robert was born March 21, 1932, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, son of the late Glenn and Margaret Barnes. Robert received his B. A. degree (1954) from Central Michigan College and his M.S.W. degree from the University of Illinois (1960).  He served in the U.S. Army 1954–1956.  His career included high school teacher, school social worker, psychotherapist and administrator in several mental health agencies in Illinois and Michigan. Above all Robert was a Christian and looked forward to spending eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Robert is survived by his sons, John (Mary) Barnes and Jeffrey (Jolene) Barnes; step sons Gary (Kathy) Anderson, Bruce Anderson and Mark (Carol) Anderson; grandsons Steven Barnes, William Barnes, Levi (Laura) Anderson, Zachary Anderson, Cody (K-Ce) Anderson;  granddaughters Anna Barnes, Tiffany Dilaura, Rachelle Beltink, and "granddaughter" Sasha (Aaron) Hunt; and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthann; parents; son, James Barnes; brother, Charles Barnes; sisters, Priscilla Campbell and Ruth (Robert) Beecroft; and brother in-law, Glenn Campbell. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorial contributions in Robert's memory may be made to the Maranatha Baptist Church, 5282 E. Airport Rd., Mt.
