Robert Bronson, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Central Michigan Community Hospital. His memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 19, near the Vietnam Memorial at Island Park with full military honors. A luncheon will be held immediately following at the VFW Hall. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Disabled American Veterans. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Robert was born March 30, 1934, in New York, NY, the son of William and Rose (Ward) Bronson. He married Deborah Murphy on Aug. 16, 1980, in Hawaii. He retired as a Sergeant, First Class, from the U.S. Army after a 26 year military career. He served various tours in Germany and Korea and served three tours in Vietnam. While in the military, some of his duties included infantry, military police, police investigator, and club management. Some of Roberts favorite pastimes were photography, arts and crafts, music, and going camping with their RV. He enjoyed tinkering and was very detail oriented which was useful in his passion for model building. He was a life member of the VFW and its color guard and also belonged to the American Legion and Eagles Clubs. Robert is survived by his wife, Deborah of Mt. Pleasant; son, Robert W. Bronson Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; and brother, Daniel Bronson of Fulton, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents.
