Robert R. Flannery, 80, of Lake passed away Sunday, June 16, 2002 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Beal City with Father John Cotter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will take place at Lux Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9-9:45 a.m. There will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph School, Commission on Aging, or the charity of the donors choice. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Robert was born July 25, 1921, in Isabella County, the son of Rome and May (Wentz) Flannery. He married Ruth M. Fitzgerald on January 28, 1950 at Sacred Heart. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1945 during World War II. He spent 22 years working for CMU as and electrician, retiring in 1983. Prior to that he had worked at Ferro Mfg. as an inspector. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and belonged to the V.F.W. Post 3033 in Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed woodcarving, hunting and fishing. Bob is survived by his wife, Ruth Flannery of Lake; two sons, William (Viola Wensmann) Flannery of Missouri and Patrick (Joan Galyon) Flannery of Midland; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Eugene (Helen) Flannery of California; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Earl Flannery and Dale Flannery.
