Robert G. Johnson, 85, of Weidman passed away Friday, August 24, 2007, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Lux Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Bromley of Clare United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation will take place following the service with inurnment in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Robert was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Mancelona, the son of Carroll and Ruth (Pearsall) Johnson. He married Frances Bazan on Nov. 2, 1946. After her death he married Charlene (Spring) Killips on Sept. 14, 1988. He worked for Massey-Ferguson as a machinist in Detroit. He was an active member of the Methodist Church in Detroit, serving as an usher. In 1983 he moved to Mt. Pleasant where he drove a school bus for the Head-Start program. He enjoyed playing cards, being outdoors, and being with children. He served in the U.S. Army and belonged to the VFW Post 4106 in Weidman. His love was for God, his family, and his country. Robert is survived by his wife of nearly 19 years, Charlene of Weidman; two daughters, Jean (Ron) Burrows of Lake and Karen (Chuck) Vockler of Walled Lake; six step-children, Charlene (Harry) LaDronka of Grand Haven, Frank (Lisa) Killips of Sault Ste. Marie, Denise (Keith) Quick of Farwell, Raymond (Jane) Killips of San Diego, CA, Ruth (Chris) Straus of Weidman, and Scott (Sarah) Killips of Manistee; five grandchildren, Amy (Dave) Geiger of Walled Lake, Jeff (Lynn) Burrows of Big Rapids, David (Kathy) Burrows of Parchment, Chuck (Racheal) Vockler of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jennifer (Josh) Sensoli of FarmingtonHills; 12 great-grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Don (Elly) Johnson of Lexington, KY; seven sisters, Queenie Stabley of Pontiac, Bonnie (Bob) Vance of Westminster, OH, Carrie Stratton of Clarkston, Alice Jo Baker of Clarkston, Marilyn (Leroy) Udell of Mancelona, Donna Quibble of Marion, and Connie Koepke of Ottisville; his sister-in-law, Betty Johnson of Waterford; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Frances in 1988; and a brother, Beryl Johnson.
