Robert Garcia, 67, of Remus, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 1, 2021. He was born on April 17, 1953, in Detroit, the son of Rosalio and Augustina (Carrillo) Garcia. He graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1971. Robert married his high school sweetheart, Terry Roberts, on October 27, 1973, in Detroit, Michigan. They were blessed with 2 children, Jenifer and Bob, both of Mt. Pleasant. Robert was an ironworker for 13 years, and then worked for the United States Postal Service for 27 years, becoming Postmaster in Carson City and Crystal. He and his family lived in Lincoln Park, Crystal, Mt. Pleasant, and Remus. He enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, camping with friends, watching his grandchildren's sporting events, telling jokes, family vacations, and rock hunting. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Terry; daughter Jenifer Garcia; son, Bob (Beth) Garcia; grandchildren Jasmine Dortch, Jada Dortch, Aubree Garcia, and William Garcia; mother-in-law Dolores Corbin of Crystal; siblings Joe (Pat Duguid) Garcia of Oxford, Phil (Mary Ann) Garcia of Alma, Mary Garcia of Lincoln Park, Connie Garcia of Southgate, Paul (Shirley) Garcia of Lincoln Park, Gloria (Wayne) Lesperance of Lincoln Park, Peter (Mary) Garcia of Dearborn, Steve (Cathy) Garcia of Lincoln Park; in-laws, Ted (Barbara) Roberts of Monroe, Chris (Tom) Baer of Stockbridge, Ga., Mike (Kay) Roberts of Crystal, Phil (Gina) Roberts of Southgate, and Marianne Hay of Cedar Springs, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Ted Roberts. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life for Robert will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, at Charles R. Lux Funeral Home and will be streamed live on the funeral home's Facebook page. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home one hour prior to service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. (A future memorial scholarship will be set up in Robert's name).
