Robert Russell Grinzinger, 81 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at home in Beal City with his family by his side. A Funeral Mass for Robert will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City with Father Ricky Varner as celebrant. Luncheon will follow immediate after the service at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Beal City. The family will receive friends at St. Joseph the Worker Church, in Beal City on Monday, April 3, from 5p.m. " 8p.m. with a vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church or St. Joseph the Worker School. Envelopes will be available at the church or at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Robert was born September 13, 1935, in Beal City, son of Henry J. and Monica (Reamer) Grinzinger. He Graduated from Beal City High school in 1953. On September 29, 1956 he married Ellen A. Engler at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Beal City. Robert worked for the City of Mt. Pleasant for 14 ½ years in the Assessors office and then for Isabella County as the Equalization Director for 31 years, retiring in 1999. Robert took great pride in his carpentry abilities. He truly enjoyed working with wood and would be the first to volunteer to help someone with a woodworking project. Robert also took pleasure in gardening, and lawn care. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing cards with his card club, bowling in a league at Chippewa Lanes and visiting with friends and neighbors. His family was the center of his life. Robert liked to be with his family and was known as the life of the party. Robert will be remembered for extending a lending hand, having a story to tell, and wearing a smile while doing so. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker Church. Robert will be greatly missed by his family and friends including his wife of 60 years, Ellen; five daughters, Jill (Steven) Miller, Jane (Scott) Yost, Judi (Rich) Moran, Joy (Charles) Lobaito, Jamie (Jason) Medler; Sister in law, Bernice Grinzinger; Brother in law, Frances (Mary Ann) Engler; 10 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Joseph Grinzinger in 2011, by his mother and father; In laws, Frank and Viola Engler; siblings, Agnes Sheahan, Theresa Bollman, Charles Grinzinger and Gerald Grinzinger.
