Robert D. Hoffman

Robert D. Hoffman, age 91, of Weidman, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, at Crestwood Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant, surrounded by his family. Born on November 23, 1933, in Lake Orion, Michigan, he was the son of the late Reinhold and Anna (Smeltz) Hoffman. Bob was a proud graduate of Lake Orion High School. On May 4, 1952, he married Janet Guinnip in Oakland County, and together they shared a life filled with love and adventure. Bob dedicated 30 years of his career to Pontiac Motors, retiring in 1981. In 1974, he and Janet moved to Weidman, where they purchased a 163-acre parcel to fulfill his dream of farming while raising their children. Despite the long commute to Pontiac, his passion for farming never waned. After selling the farm, they built a new home on Lake of the Hills in Weidman and enjoyed wintering in Bonita Springs, Florida. Bob cherished his time playing bocce, billiards, and cards, and most importantly, spending time with his children and friends. Bob is survived by five children, Dale (Robin) Hoffman of Lake, Debbijo (Tim) Pung of Weidman, Kelli (Doug) McGrath of San Diego, Kari Eichstadt of Cedar, and Jana (Duane) Schafer of Beal City; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet Hoffman; great grandson, Kellen; six sisters; and two brothers. Bob's memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4th, at Weidman United Methodist Church with Pastor Cynthia Green officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Beal City Knights of Columbus.
