Robert Dick West, 72, of St. Louis and formerly of Rosebush died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Rosebush with Father Jeff Donner presiding and Lorraine McGuiness officiating. Burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan or to the Disabled American Veterans. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Dick was born April 27, 1932 in Rosebush, the son of James Bernard and Tweedie (Prout) West. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1954. He was employed at Dow Chemical as a chemical engineer for over 25 years. Some of his favorite pastimes were gardening, working on his house and cars, cooking, and traveling. But spending time with his grandchildren is what he loved most. Dick is survived by three daughters, Ranay Quigno of Bradenton, Fla., Rhonda Dutmers of California, and Linda West of Mt. Pleasant and their mother, Delores West-Lynch of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Justin and Jason West and Tiara, Kristen and Hope Dutmers; five great-grandchildren, Elijah, Malia, Jozlyn and Adrianna West and Joey Serrato; one step-great-granddaughter, Makayla Rodgers; two sisters, Veronica Loll Gothup and Florence Tip Phillips both of Lake Isabella; two brothers, Joseph (Rose) West of Clare and Mike (Barb) West of Empire; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Gerald Ace Butch West and John Jack West.
