Robert F. Severson Jr.

Robert F. Severson Jr., 77, of Weidman passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. In following his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services are planned. The family is being served by the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Robert was born June 29, 1931, in Chicago, IL, the son of Robert F. and Jane Hinkley Severson. He married Dorothy Rimovsky on Feb. 27, 1951, in Holbrook, AZ. He was a full professor and department chairperson of Economics at both Rutgers University and Central Michigan University. In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, writing, and spending time in his apple orchard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War. Robert is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Dorothy; three children, Robert (Cheryl) Severson of Weidman, Dorothy (Joseph) Borders of Lake, and Dianna Soriano of Lake; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Donald (Marla) Severson. Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Charlotte Renee Severson in 1991.
