Robert Gerald Turnwald

Robert Turnwald, 58, of Shepherd, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant surrounded by family members. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Rd. on Saturday, October 3, from 1-3 p.m. Immediately following, family and friends are invited to a luncheon and gathering at the home of Ken and Gail Turnwald, 7402 S. Shepherd Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to cover unforeseen expenses. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Bob was born July 7, 1951, in Shepherd, the son of Gilbert and Bernadine (Moeggenborg) Turnwald. Following graduation from Shepherd High School in 1969, Bob enlisted in the National Guard serving for six years. He married Nancy Fisher in 1971. He worked for Total Petroleum for 26 years as a pipefitter and firefighter. More recently, he was employed by the Soaring Eagle Casino as a plumber. Bob was also an inventor, inventing several odds and ends, tools and gadgets. His most prized invention was Bobs Bonfire Tool, which he marketed at craft shows, selling thousands. His children, brothers, and sisters are so proud of him. He had the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone, at anytime; no questions asked. He was a true friend and a best friend to many who will miss him dearly. He loved hunting (deer camp), fishing, especially at Neebish Island, shooting, camping, and spending time with family. Bob was a devoted father and husband. He is survived by his four children, Jeremy Turnwald of Shepherd, Chad (Kit) Turnwald of Cave Creek, AZ, Tami (Craig) Wilson of Shepherd, and Tyler (Sarah) Turnwald of Atlanta, GA. Bobs last love was his grandchildren, Bailey, Zaiden, Morgan, Peyton, Cameron, Khloe, Kaleb, and Cooper. How he wished he could have seen them grow up. Other surviving family members include his father, Gilbert Gip Turnwald of Shepherd; brothers, Ken (Gail) Turnwald and Randy (Chari) Turnwald, both of Shepherd; sisters Ruth (John) Moore of Edmore, Ginny (Kim) Klumpp of Shepherd, Kathy (Jim) Stovak of Lake Isabella, Donna Lehigh of Shepherd, and Chris Knorr of Shepherd; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernadine in 2003; and sister, Julie Ann Turnwald in 1971.
