Robert L. Vanhorn

Robert L. VanHorn, 64, of Mt. Pleasant died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004 at Central Michigan Community Hospital. His funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Friday from Lux Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Fussman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery near Rosebush. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Fund. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Robert was born April 25, 1940 in Alma, the son of Chris and Bernice (Web) VanHorn. He married Mabel Smith on Jan. 22, 1974 in Mt. Pleasant. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam from 1962-1968. He was a member of the VFW Post 3033 and had worked for many years at WalMart in both Mt. Pleasant and Florida. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert is survived by his wife Mabel VanHorn of Mt. Pleasant; seven children, Pam (Steve) Schneider of New York, Christina Kelley of North Carolina, Laura (Terry) Keeney of Florida, Howard Maynard of Florida, Bill (Tina) Maynard of Weidman, Sandra (James) Weaver of Reed City, and Sharon (Ricky) Berry of South Carolina; 19 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his mother, Bernice VanHorn of Mt. Pleasant; four brothers; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his father.
