Ronald Schumacher, 84, of Beal City, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at Green Acres Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant. Ronald was born on April 26, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Aloysius and Thelma (Vincent) Schumacher. He graduated from Beal City High School in 1955. Ron married Joan Gruss on November 9, 1957, at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Beal City. He worked on the family-owned farm for more than 70 years. After retiring Ron would still drove tractor on the farm and checked the crops. He was also on the Board of Directors for Isabella Bank, served on the Beal City School Board and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Beal City. Ron and Joan enjoyed their card club for many years. They loved watching their grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed going to the MHSAA basketball playoffs. Ron is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Randy) Yuncker of Beal City; two grandchildren, Troy Yuncker of Chicago, IL and Morgan Yuncker of Ypsilanti; sister-in-law, Judy Schumacher of Beal City; brother-in-law, Richard Gruss of Beal City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; brother, Gary Schumacher; and sister, Diane Boling. A Mass for Ron will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with Father Thomas McNamara as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery concluding with a luncheon at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of church on Tuesday from 4-7:30 p.m. with the rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Commission on Aging or St. Joseph the Worker School. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home.
