Rosaline Galler, aged 90, of Clare, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at McLaren Central Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 15, 1934, in Utica, Michigan, Rosaline was the cherished daughter of Fred and Rosaline (Klein) Preiss. She was the third of five children, growing up alongside her elder siblings Lorraine and Fred and younger siblings Irene and Marilyn.
Rosaline's early aspirations led her to Adrian, Michigan, where she initially pursued a religious vocation as a nun. However, her passion for education soon took precedence, and she began her teaching career in Joliet, Illinois, later moving to Hudsonville, Michigan, and eventually Royal Oak, where she met her beloved husband, Albert Galler. The couple married in 1957 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica.
Rosaline and Albert settled in Armada, Michigan, where they welcomed their six children: Michelle, Mark, Linda, John, and twins Jeff and James. In 1968, the family moved to a farm in Isabella County, and Rosaline returned to school, earning her bachelor's degree in teaching from Central Michigan University. She dedicated her career to St. Cecilia Catholic School in Clare, serving as an elementary teacher and later as principal for eight years until her retirement in 1991.
A devout Catholic, Rosaline was a former member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Clare and a current member of Sacred Heart Parish in Mt. Pleasant. She was known for her selflessness, always putting others' needs before her own, and she found joy in cooking, crafts, gardening, and teaching.
Rosaline is survived by her children, Michelle Galler of Mt. Pleasant, Mark Galler of Lake, Linda (Brian) Newman of East Jordan, and John, Jeff, and James Galler, all of Clare; her grandchildren, Nicholas Villarreal, Alex Newman, and Nathan Newman; her sisters, Irene Kerner and Marilyn Statley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, and her siblings Lorraine and Fred Preiss.
A Funeral Mass for Rosaline will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on her 91st birthday. Father Andy Booms will preside. Rite of Committal will be in St. Henry Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Lincoln Reception Center (attached to the funeral home). The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday one hour before Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Parish. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home.
