Rose Frances Neff

Rose Frances Neff, 96, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at her home. Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Lux Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Sharyn Osmond of Countryside United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Salt River Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to Countryside United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, or Commission on Aging. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Rose was born Oct. 21, 1911, in Owosso, the daughter of James and Theresa (Pekar) Sasek. She married the late Earl B. Neff. She graduated from Owosso High School and moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1943 from the Owosso area. She worked as a legal secretary for Lee Browning and Stephen Fox and also for the Isabella County Prosecuting Attorneys office under Jim Fox, Joe Barberi and others. She was highly competitive and enjoyed many sports, especially the Detroit Tigers, Pistons, and CMU Chippewas. She excelled at golf, which she won a club championship, and bowling which she served as secretary in both Mt. Pleasant and Clare. Some of her favorite pastimes were card playing and games. But what she treasured most was her family, who will miss her dearly. Rose is survived by two daughters, Shirley Neff of Cedar Springs and Joyce (Willard) Seeley of Shepherd; three grandchildren, Greg (Tammy) Seeley, Todd (Michelle) Seeley, and Karen (Emmett) Purtill; five great-grandchildren, Creig Seeley, Matthew Seeley, Cassie Purtill, Katie Fields, and Corey Purtill; and three great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her brother, Charlie Sasek.
