Rose Evelyn (Martin) Spivey, 62 of Manistee and longtime Cadillac resident, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 20, 2012. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 28, 2012 at 3 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 8389 S. 39 Mile Rd. Cadillac, MI 49601. Rose was born October 8, 1949, in Fort Dix, NJ, daughter of the late Lawrence and Laura (Crum) Martin. She was a baptized and became a member of the L.D.S. Church in 1966. Rose was married to Sherman G.W. Spivey on August 19, 2000; they were happily married for 11 years. She enjoyed yard sales and crocheting blankets, she also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, collecting things, and spending time with her grandchildren whenever possible. Rose is survived by her husband, Sherman G.W. Spivey; three children, Jim (Mary) Johnston, Nicole (Mike) Carl, and Roger (Jennifer) Green; nine grandchildren, Christy, Jimmy, Jessica, Jerry, Kenny, Tristina, Anthony Jr., Hannah, Asia Audalee; two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Rylee; sister, Irene (Rick) Miller; brother, Ted Lafuze Jr.; and other family and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Martin and Laura Martin-Lafuze; previous husband of 23 years, David Woodman; brother-in-law, Ricky Miller; and great-niece, Carly Belknap-Budrow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The Green Family or Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home at 2300 South Lincoln Rd. Mt. Pleasant MI 48858 in care of the Spivey family. The family of Rose Spivey thanks Hospice of Michigan, L.D.S Church, The Salvation Army Corp., and Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home for their ongoing support in this time of loss.
